At Rabbitor, we believe in transparency. Unlike other platforms, we openly share how our feed algorithms work. This page explains how we determine what content you see in your feeds.
For You Feed (Algorithmic)
The For You feed is personalized based on your interests and engagement patterns. Here's how it works:
Algorithm Components:
1. User Interaction Score (40%)
- Likes from people you follow (10x weight)
- Comments/replies (5x weight)
- Bookmarks (3x weight)
- Time spent viewing (2x weight)
2. Content Recency Score (25%)
- Posts from last 2 hours (100%)
- Posts from last 24 hours (75%)
- Posts from last 7 days (50%)
- Older posts (25%)
3. Author Relationship Score (20%)
- People you follow (100%)
- People your follows follow (50%)
- Popular/verified accounts (30%)
- New accounts with high engagement (25%)
4. Content Diversity Score (15%)
- Topic/hashtag distribution
- Media type variety (text, images, links)
- Avoid too many posts from same author
Note: Scores are pre-computed every 15 minutes for active users and stored for optimal performance.
Following Feed (Chronological)
The Following feed is simple and straightforward - it shows posts from people you follow in chronological order (newest first).
How it works:
- Pure chronological order (newest first)
- Includes reposts from people you follow
- Filters out muted users/keywords
- 80/20 ratio of original content vs reposts
This feed is updated in real-time as people you follow post new content.
Trending Feed (Engagement-based)
The Trending feed shows the most popular content across the entire platform based on engagement velocity and reach.
Algorithm Components:
1. Engagement Velocity (50%)
- Likes per hour since posting
- Comments per hour
- Reposts per hour
- Exponential decay over time
2. Reach Score (30%)
- Unique users who engaged
- Cross-follower-network spread
- Geographic distribution
3. Quality Score (20%)
- Author's historical engagement rates
- Content length (optimal: 100-200 characters)
- Media presence bonus
- Link click-through rates
Trending scores are recalculated every 30 minutes with separate windows for 1h, 6h, and 24h trends.
Our Principles
We prioritize:
- ✓Transparency - You deserve to know how algorithms work
- ✓User Control - You can choose between algorithmic and chronological feeds
- ✓Content Diversity - Avoid echo chambers by exposing you to varied content
- ✓Quality over Quantity - Engagement velocity rewards truly interesting content
- ✓Performance - Fast, responsive feeds even at scale
This algorithm is designed to be fair, transparent, and user-focused. We continuously monitor and adjust these parameters based on user feedback and platform health metrics. If you have questions or suggestions about our algorithms, please reach out to our team.
